Infant Baptism

We want to have our child baptized on Svatá Hora. Is this possible?

Yes, we would be happy to baptize your child. We just ask that you first find time for a meeting where you will learn about both the ceremony and the conditions for baptism. Please choose one of the following dates: September 21, October 12, November 16, December 7 (dates for 2026 will be published in November 2025).
When you choose one of these dates, please do not forget to confirm your attendance to us at least one week in advance via basilica@farnost-svatahora.cz!

The assembly point is in the cloisters in front of the shop at 1:45 PM (13:45). The date of the baptism is arranged only after this meeting.

Who must attend the preparation?

We ask that both parents make time, even if they are not married. Please arrange childcare for the time when this pre-baptism meeting for parents takes place: one of your relatives can possibly walk with the baby around the Svatá Hora cloisters during that time.
Because more than one couple may attend the preparation, please try to understand that we cannot manage with small children present.
The ideal situation is to complete this preparatory meeting while still pregnant, when you do not have to worry about childcare, breastfeeding, or changing diapers.

How to proceed with the baptism of a child who is already attending school?

Such a child already has their own opinion and often debates with their parents' views; therefore, before the baptism itself, they must know something about God, the Catholic faith, and the Christian way of life that stems from baptism.
For the baptism of persons aged 7–17, please contact Chaplain Matěj by email at matej.jirsa@farnost-svatahora.cz.
