Individual pilgrimages
You can also come to the Holy Mountain alone, in silence and at your own pace. An individual pilgrimage is not a feat or an obligation, but an offer of a journey where one can stop and breathe for a while.
There may be many reasons:
the desire for silence and reflection on oneself and one's life
asking God for forgiveness for some offence
a determination to leave bad relationships and restart one's life
a penitential journey associated with fasting and renunciation, especially in Advent and Lent
asking for the intercession of Our Lady for the answer to one's prayers
seeking an answer to the question of spiritual vocation for young men and women
the need to leave the hustle and bustle of civilisation and to go into nature and visit a place of pilgrimage
and many others.
Believers and seekers alike come to the Holy Mountain, people with gratitude and questions, with joy and with burdens they want to entrust to God. Some wander with a specific purpose, others simply because they feel the need to go. Not only the pilgrimage, but the Holy Mountain site itself offers a space for personal contemplation, slowing down and returning to what is essential. There is no need for special preparation or perfect fitness - what is important is an open heart. Every step can be a prayer, every view an invitation to hope. Even a short journey can become a profound encounter. The Holy Mountain is a place where no one is a stranger and where silence speaks. Come as you are. The path will find you.
