Founded in 1921, it has supported the development and life of the Holy Mountain since its inception, connecting its friends around the world and publishing a magazine four times a year. <details class="accordion"> <summary>What is the Matica Svatohorská?</summary> <p>Matica Svatohorská is a voluntary, non-profit, public benefit civic association of friends and benefactors of Svatá Hora, which aims to care for the spiritual background of Svatá Hora, to collect donations for repairs and maintenance of the Basilica and the entire pilgrimage area, to support promotional, agency and publication activities in the religious and moral field, and to strive to create favourable conditions for incoming pilgrims.
All the members of the Holy Mountain Matrix form one large community. A Mass is celebrated regularly in the Basilica for all living and deceased members of the Matrix of St. Mary. On the last Saturday of May each year, the Pilgrimage of the Matica Svatohorská Matica and the annual membership meeting are held. Here, every three years, a seven-member committee is elected to serve as the executive body of the Matrix. </p> </details> <details class="accordion"> <summary>What is its purpose?"</summary> <p>To spiritually and financially support Holy Mountain so that it continues to blossom into beauty and all pilgrims feel at home here. To this end, it raises funds with which it implements projects to beautify the Shrine and its surroundings and to support spiritual and cultural events on the Holy Mountain.</p> </details> <details class="accordion"> <summary>Can I become a member?</summary> <p>According to the Statutes of the Matica Svatohorská, a natural person over the age of 18 and a legal person can be a member of the association. Members can be both Czech citizens and foreigners. In order to become a member of the Matica Svatohorská, you must first fill in an application form. Currently, there are over 1,200 registered members from the Czech Republic and abroad. Membership dues or other financial donations can be sent either by bank transfer or bank transfer to the account no. 523967309/0800, or can be deposited in cash in the sacristy of the St. Mary's Basilica. The recommended membership fee is 400 CZK per year for the gainfully employed and 200 CZK per year for pensioners, students or housewives.</p> </details>
