Church wedding

<details class="accordion"> <summary>Who can enter into a church marriage?</summary> <p>A church marriage can be celebrated in a Catholic church by a couple, at least one of whom is a baptized Catholic and still believes in God and His presence at the time of marriage. There are other conditions, but you will learn about them when you first meet the priest (read on).</p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>How should we proceed?"</summary> <p>A church marriage is not just a wedding, so unlike an official marriage, several months of preparation are needed. This can be done either at your place of residence (in which case you will need to bring a certificate), at one of the approved marriage centres (organised by the individual dioceses) or at our place in St. Helena.</p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>Is individual preparation possible?"</summary> <p>As there has been a radical reduction in the number of clergy since September 2025, please understand that it is not in our power to offer individual meetings. Therefore, you can already find the dates for the whole of next year here. Feel free to make preparations even if you don't know if you will actually get married.</p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>What are the dates of the preparations?</summary> <p>This is a semester-long 5-part series (it is required that both fiancés or partners attend all preparation meetings), meetings are held at St. Mary's every Thursday after the evening Mass (meet at the ambytes outside the shop at 5:45pm - note the ambytes close at 6pm!) SUMMER CYCLE: 2/26, 3/26, 4/23, 5/14, 6/11/2026</p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>When to arrange a wedding date</summary> <p>We ask for your understanding that this cannot be done over the phone, but only after the first meeting, to avoid any inconvenience that may cause the wedding to not take place at our venue. </p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>Can we have our own wedding officiant? But even in this case, we need to meet. Email basilica@farnost-svatahora.cz to discuss how to proceed in this case.</p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>What music can be played during the ceremony</summary> <p>A church is first and foremost a place of worship, and wedding ceremonies are one of the most beautiful Catholic services. Therefore, it is important to take care in the selection of the songs that are played during the ceremony. Therefore, please contact our Principal Regensor, Paul Šmolík, early via email: hudba@farnost-svatahora.cz. </p> </details>
<details class="accordion"> <summary>What if we find we can't have the wedding in the church?"</summary> <p>Don't lose your mind. In addition to the sacraments, there are blessings that can be given to anyone who sincerely asks for them. The blessing of a couple who ask God for help in their sometimes difficult life situation should be one of the most beautiful riches the Church has to offer. It is usually an intimate and private affair without much publicity."</p> </details>
