The Jesuits in the Czech Lands
The first room is dedicated to the statue of Our Lady of Svatohorská and the Jesuit Order. It features a map showing the Jesuits’ activities during various periods. On the screen, you’ll find a presentation on the Jesuit Order in Bohemia, created by PhDr. Věra Smolová of the Příbram State District Archives, who contributed to the museum’s design.
Important Events
The next room displays on screens a collection of unique 17th-century architectural plans and photographs capturing various events at Svatá Hora. In the center of the room stands a Baroque door that was discovered during the renovation and subsequently restored. You can symbolically walk through them into the Baroque era. Behind the door begins a timeline of Bohemian history from the dawn of Christianity, along with events at Svatá Hora.
The Robe of Our Lady of Svatá Hora
If you walk through the next passageway, you will find yourself in the main part of the museum, which was originally planned by the Jesuits as a crypt but was never used as such. The museum also features the “dresses” of the Virgin Mary of Svatá Hora, which relate both to the respective periods and, chronologically, to the exhibits displayed beneath them—ranging from the oldest preserved pieces to the modern camouflage-patterned ones created for a children’s contest in 2012.
Archaeological Finds
At the end of the room, drainage channels and the remains of a child’s grave are on display; the grave predates the Baroque complex and was part of the cemetery surrounding the original chapel. The aforementioned sites were archaeologically excavated and left in their original state of discovery.
Baroque Furnace
The exhibition continues down the staircase to one of the wells, where you’ll find information regarding Svatá Hora’s water supply. The museum tour ends at the base of the discovered Baroque oven, where you can view its reconstructed state. On display next to the oven are the baking trays used to bake communion wafers and wafers.
</details>Current Exhibitions at Svatá Hora
